NHL Player Safety has announced that Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brandon Hagel will have a hearing for his Game 2 hit on Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov. The hearing will take place on April 25.
During the third period of Game 2, Hagel was given a five-minute major for interference after throwing a big hit on Barkov in the Lightning's zone. The Panthers captain also exited the game after receiving the hit.
Hagel, 26, has zero points and a minus-4 rating in two playoff games for the Lightning so far this year. This is after he set new career highs with 35 goals, 55 assists, 90 points, and a plus-33 rating in 82 games this regular-season.
