Lightning's Nikita Kucherov Makes History With Remarkable Stat

The Tampa Bay Lightning picked up a 6-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 25. With this, they now sport a 41-25-5 record and trail the Toronto Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers by two points for the top spots in the Atlantic Division standings.

Lightning superstar Nikita Kucherov contributed in a big way during the club's win, scoring a goal and adding two assists. With this strong performance, Kucherov has hit the 100-point mark for the third straight season. In addition, he made some NHL history in the process.

This is now the fifth time Kucherov has recorded at least 100 points in a season. With this, he now has the most 100-point campaigns by a Russian-born player in the history of the NHL, as reported by Lightning team reporter Benjamin Pierce. With this incredible stat, No. 86 passed Washington Capitals superstar, Alex Ovechkin.

According to NHL Public Relations, Kucherov has not only passed Ovechkin in 100-point seasons but also Hockey Hall of Famer Teemu Selanne. He also has tied Jaromir Jagr, another one of the NHL's biggest legends, with his five 100-point campaigns.

This achievement only shows just how amazing of a player Kucherov has been throughout his career. In 792 career games, the 2011 second-round pick now has 351 and 974 points.

Incredible stuff here from Kucherov. How many 100-point seasons do you think he will have by the end of his career?
