On a recent episode of the DFO Rundown podcast, NHL insider Frank Seravalli reported that the Chicago Blackhawks and Seattle Kraken have interviewed Tampa Bay Lightning assistant coach Jeff Blashill for their vacant head coach gigs.

"Keep an eye on Jeff Blashill," Seravalli said. "My understanding is that he interviewed with the Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks. He's another guy that is an option to get back into the head coaching game."

Blashill, 51, has been an assistant coach for the Lightning over the last three seasons. He joined the Bolts' staff after a seven-year stint as the Detroit Red Wings' head coach, which lasted from 2015-16 to 2021-22. Over that span as Detroit's bench boss, he recorded a 204-261-72 record.

Given Blashill's resume, it is understandable that he is generating head coaching interest. Furthermore, he also has previous experience being a head coach of teams looking to take that next step, so he could be a good fit for either Chicago or Seattle.

It will be interesting to see if Blashill ends up landing Seattle or Chicago's head coaching job. If it does, the Lightning will be on the hunt for a new assistant coach.
