Should the Lightning try to trade for him?
One of the NHL's top centers is reportedly open to the idea of playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning.
According to The Athletic's Max Bultman and Pierre LeBrun, Detroit Red Wings star Dylan Larkin has expanded his trade list to 10 teams, and the Lightning are among the clubs on it.
"The 10 teams for which he would currently accept a trade are the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Utah Mammoth, Tampa Bay Lightning, New Jersey Devils and Colorado Avalanche, a league source, speaking under condition of anonymity to address negotiations that are not public, confirmed to LeBrun," The Athletic reported.
The Lightning being on Larkin's trade list is not necessarily surprising. They have been one of the top teams in the NHL for several years now. They also still have multiple players left from their 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup championship-winning clubs. Thus, it makes sense that a player who wants to win like Larkin is not against being traded to the Lightning.
If the Lightning acquired Larkin, he would give them another star forward to work with. He could thrive playing with Tampa Bay star wingers like Nikita Kucherov, Brandon Hagel, and Jake Guentzel.
However, Larkin would certainly cost the Lightning a lot in a trade, as he is a star center who has multiple years left on his deal. The Red Wings are also in the same division as the Lightning, so they may not be as eager to trade him there.
Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if the Lightning make a push for Larkin since they are on his trade list. In seven games this season with Detroit, he has recorded one goal and five points.
