Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Gage Goncalves has been named to his first career All-Star Game.

Goncalves, 22, is having an excellent season with the Syracuse Crunch, so this All-Star nod is certainly warranted. In 33 games on the season, he has seven goals to go along with a team-leading 23 assists and 30 points. With that, he is well on his way to breaking his AHL career-high in points (54) from last season.

This must be exciting for Lightning management, as Goncalves is viewed as one of the top prospects in the team's system. He is continuing to trend in the right direction with his development, and this All-Star selection is only the latest example of that.

Goncalves' biggest strength is his playmaking ability, and he has been displaying it immensely this season. If he keeps this kind of play up, a call-up to the NHL should be coming for him in the near future.

The 2024 AHL All-Star Classic will take place on Feb. 4 and Feb. 5 at the Tech CU Arena in San Jose, California.
