Maple Leafs Look to Sweep Season Series Against Sharks, Lineups and Where to Watch

The Maple Leafs are coming into this matchup having won five of their last 10 games.

With William Nylander locked up for the long term, THN's David Alter breaks down what it means for the Toronto Maple Leafs moving forward.

For the second time in three days, the Maple Leafs and San Jose Sharks square off.

Their last meeting, on Saturday, saw Toronto win comfortably as William Nylander scored a pair of goals and Martin Jones stopped 23 of 24 shots against. Calle Jarnkrok also added to the fun in San Jose, scoring his 10th goal of the season.

It's the first game that Nylander will play after signing a massive eight-year, $92 million deal on Monday. The 27-year-old leads the team in points, scoring 21 goals and 33 assists in just 37 games.

It was possible — after as smooth as a win that was for Toronto against San Jose — that we could seen Dennis Hildeby make his NHL debut this time around against the Sharks. But Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe confirmed on Monday following practice that Jones would make his fifth-consecutive start for Toronto.

It appears as though Nick Robertson will be a healthy scratch for the second straight game with Pontus Holmberg remaining in Toronto's lineup. Holmberg had an assist and played nearly 15 minutes on Saturday in San Jose. Ryan Reaves looks to be out for Tuesday's game as well.

With the way Toronto has played against the California teams in the last week — outscoring the opposition 9-2 — this game should be like no other. Nevertheless, it'll be a difficult matchup as the Sharks look to avoid the season sweep.

Where to watch
