Matthews fell to third and was passed by one of his teammates after being voted as having the best style last season.

Auston Matthews is scoring goals at a record pace, so I'm sure news that he's lost his crown as the player with the best style isn't going to bother him too much.

The NHLPA has released their annual poll where players are asked to weigh on 15 different questions. After being voted as the player with the best style in 2022-23, Matthews fell to third with Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak taking the top spot with 15.02 percent of the vote.

Coming in second place in the category was Maple Leafs forward William Nylander at 12.17 percent. Matthews fell to third at 10.46 percent.

The Leafs failed to crack the top-five in most categories including the most complete player and didn't crack perhaps the most respected category labeled 'If you need to win one game, who is the forward you want on your team?'

Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid topped that list with 48.71 percent of the vote.

Mitch Marner did place fifth in the 'best playmaker' category finishing fifth with 5.8 percent of the vote.

The NHLPA has been holding player polls since the 2017-18 season.

Matthews scored his 66th goal of the season in a 5-2 win against the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday, scoring more goals than any active player in a single campaign. With four games remaining in the regular season, his teammates desperately want him to score 70. If Matthews can do it, he'd become the first player to reach the milestone since 1992-93 when Teemu Selanne and Alex Mogilny each scored 76.

The full results of the player poll is available here.
