Campbell signed a one-year deal with the Detroit Red Wings this summer.
The NHL and NHLPA announced on Friday that Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jack Campbell will receive care from the Player Assistance Program.
Campbell took part in one pre-season games with the Red Wings. He saw 24:47 of action in net and made 20 saves on 22 shots.
Campbell signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings this summer with his hometown team. The player is from Port Huron, Michigan. He was bought out of his contract with the Edmonton Oilers in the summer. That contract paid him an average annual value of $5 million per season.
The goaltender's best days have been with the Toronto Maple Leafs where he posted a 51-14-9 record with a .916 save percentage. Campbell was the starter for the team's 2021 and 2022 playoff runs.
Under the terms of the joint program, he will return to the Club when cleared for on-ice competition by the program administrators.
We, at The Hockey News, wish Campbell a healthy recovery.
