Two former Maple Leafs players have been claimed off of waivers after a crazy wire on Sunday.
The Anaheim Ducks claimed James Reimer off of waivers on Monday. He signed a one-year, $1 million deal with the Buffalo Sabres on July 1 and began training camp in the organization.
The Columbus Blue Jackets claimed Zach Aston-Reese from the Vegas Golden Knights. The forward signed a one-year, league-minimum deal ($775,000) with Vegas on July 1.
Reimer spent six seasons with the Maple Leafs, from 2010-2016. The goaltender appeared in 207 games with the club, finishing with an 85-76-23 record and a .914 save percentage.
The 36-year-old has also played for the San Jose Sharks, Florida Panthers, Carolina Hurricanes, and Detroit Red Wings. He's played 501 NHL games, recording a 215-177-63 record and a .910 save percentage.
Aston-Reese joined the Maple Leafs on a professional tryout ahead of the 2022-23 season. He ultimately earned himself a one-year, $841,000 contract and finished the year with 10 goals and four assists in 77 games.
He also appeared in six postseason games for Toronto, registering one goal.
The 30-year-old spent last season in the Detroit Red Wings organization, playing three NHL games and 61 with the team's AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, where he scored 14 goals and 16 assists.
