Reaves raised his hand to go serve the penalty in the third period on Tuesday against Florida, but Keefe sent Robertson to serve the penalty instead.
Ryan Reaves almost got on the ice in overtime during the Maple Leafs and Florida Panthers' game on Tuesday.
Toronto was on the power play, but received a too-many-men penalty with less than six seconds left in the third period. Reaves, on the bench, raised his hand to go serve the penalty, meaning he would've been on the ice in overtime for the Maple Leafs.
According to Reaves following practice on Wednesday, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe nearly sent him to the box to serve the penalty.
"He almost did," he said. "But I had to remind him that I'd be coming out for overtime four-on-four, so I mean I would've taken it, I probably would've gone on a breakaway and scored, but yeah, it would've been fun."

Keefe ultimately sent Nick Robertson to serve the penalty, giving the 22-year-old an opportunity to play in overtime. No team scored, and that sent the game to a shootout with the Maple Leafs winning after Florida's Evan Rodrigues double tapped the puck.
Reaves has appeared in 16 games with the Maple Leafs this season. He's scored one goal and has averaged 7:39 of ice-time throughout that span. The 36-year-old signed a three-year, $4.050 million deal with Toronto this past summer.
