Nylander is featured in the first of six episodes in the series, which premiered on October 4.

The new Prime Video docuseries ‘FACEOFF: Inside the NHL,’ displays behind-the-scenes footage of players from the 2023-24 season and has gone live as of October 4. Toronto Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander takes center stage in the six-part series, playing a key role in the first episode alongside long-time friend and rival, David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins.

However, when asked on Monday about his role in the show, Nylander shared that while he's received plenty of positive feedback, he hasn't actually watched it himself.

“Oh, yeah. Everybody's texted saying that they love the show,” Nylander said. “I mean, I haven't watched it myself. So, yeah.”

It’s a bit surprising considering Nylander is featured prominently in episode one of the series, which promises to take fans behind the scenes of the league’s biggest names, including a raw look at the Leafs’ 2024 postseason. Despite this, Nylander doesn’t seem too eager to tune in to his own episode.

“I don't know. Maybe at some point. I don't know. It's not like I'm planning to go home and watch it tonight,” he joked. “I find myself with nothing. I don't like watching myself. So, I mean, that's probably why.”

For Nylander, he acknowledged it’s a little uncomfortable seeing himself on screen. “No, I just don’t like, you know, watching myself,” he admitted with a laugh.

While Nylander may not be in a hurry to watch the series, his younger brother, Alex Nylander, is far more intrigued. The younger Nylander, who recently praised his brother’s 'fun side' on September 25 at Leafs training camp that fans will see in the series, has already seen and enjoyed it.

“That's going to be interesting. You'll see. Obviously, it was filmed during playoffs, so it's not like much was going on, there was a lot of focus on that. You'll see a little fun side of him, and he's obviously a little different off the ice, and a chill guy. It'll be fun to see. I'm curious too as well."

“I think he liked it,” William said of Alex’s thoughts on the show. “He thought it was interesting to see all the players and all the different teams, and how they were off the ice and on the ice and around the guys and stuff. So, he had fun watching it.”

Whether or not Nylander eventually tunes in, most Leafs fans will no doubt be interested to see him in a different light if they haven’t already.
