Josh Ho-Sang is seemingly working on multiple projects beyond his hockey-playing career.
The former Toronto Marlies forward dropped an 18-track rap album on Tuesday titled 'SAME'
The 14th song on the album is called 'Papi for MVP'. Papi is one of Auston Matthews' nicknames.
Drafted by the New York Islanders with the first pick (28th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft, the Thornhill, Ontario native struggled to find his footing in the NHL. After a short stint in Sweden, Ho-Sang signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs on a professional tryout in the fall of 2021. He earned a contract with the Marlies, where he spent the entire season with the club. His early-season success earned him an invite to Canada's 2022 Olympic team, which did not include players on existing NHL contracts.
After scoring 16 goals and adding 19 assists with the Marlies, Ho-Sang signed to play with KHL Russian club Ufa Salavat Yulayev, but was injured in his very first game. He had spent last summer contemplating retirement and has begun choosing a new path after hockey, which includes releasing a rap album.
Last week, Ho-Sang took to his Instagram account to reveal that he was involved in a new app called Pick-Up Pro Sports or 'pup', a "platform that allows you to find pick-up games, events, and practice."
