The Maple Leafs confirmed that Bieber will be part of the All-Star weekend festivities in Toronto in a social media post.

With William Nylander locked up for the long term, THN's David Alter breaks down what it means for the Toronto Maple Leafs moving forward.

With the NHL All-Star Game set to take place in Toronto next month, it's been widely reported that Toronto Maple Leafs star Auston Matthews will be one of the team captains for the four-team, 3-on-3 exhibition tournament.

When asked last week in California if Justin Bieber would be joining Matthews as a celebrity co-captain, Matthews was coy about it.

"You're asking me?" Matthews questions. "I don’t want to give away anything I’m not supposed to."

On Thursday, the Maple Leafs confirmed Bieber's involvement in the NHL All-Star Weekend with a social media post.

In the post, Matthews sends a video message to Bieber saying that he's looking forward to seeing him during the Feb 1-4 event in Toronto and that he hopes he will enjoy a "very big present from the team".

Bieber proceeds to open up a garage to find an overside version of a Carlton the Bear stuffed animal.

"I've got to get that to my Canada home," Bieber said in amazement.

The NHL has had a 3-on-3 format for some time now, but they are bringing back the draft format that was popular for a couple of years. This time, four teams will have captains and they will draft with a celebrity co-captain. Bieber is believed to be Matthews' celebrity co-captain for the event.

Former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Phil Kessel was drafted last as part of the first-ever draft. To save from that embarrassing distinction this time around, the final four players will be randomly assigned to the remaining four teams.
