On Tuesday, the world mourned as Ozzy Osbourne, the iconic frontman of Black Sabbath, passed away at age 76. Osbourne, who had been dealing with several health issues in recent years, including Parkinson’s disease, had performed in Birmingham, England, where he reunited with Black Sabbath in a performance dubbed his “final show”.

While the world of music, entertainment, and fans of the rock star mourn the loss of a legend, so too did the hockey world.

Known as the ‘Prince of Darkness,’ Osbourne was known to be a hockey fan, particularly of the St. Louis Blues. In his younger years, he even took a prison mugshot while wearing an old Blues shirt. A bit surprising for someone born in Marston Green, United Kingdom.

The Maple Leafs paid tribute to the music icon on Wednesday by posting a video of Osbourne from the early days of Scotiabank Arena, where he recorded a video for Game Operations to energize Toronto’s crowd. The video features a few hilarious outtakes where he had to be bleeped out before eventually saying, “Get off your a** and let’s hear some f***ing noise, come on!”.

Beyond his legendary music career, Osbourne also became a pop culture icon, especially in the early 2000s when his entire family entered the reality TV world with the super popular show ‘The Osbournes,’ introducing the star to a new generation of fans. His unique personality, whether on stage or on screen, left an indelible mark across various cultural landscapes, proving his influence stretched far beyond just rock and roll.
