McCabe cross-checked DeBrusk before also doing the same to Marchand on Thursday night.
Jake McCabe will pay $5,000 for his cross-check on Brad Marchand in the Maple Leafs' 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
McCabe gave two cross-checks out in the same sequence during the first period against the Bruins. He two-handed Jake DeBrusk before also cross-checking Marchand once the play was called dead.
McCabe was assessed an interference penalty for his cross-check on DeBrusk and Matthew Knies went to the box for roughing on the same sequence. David Pastrnak got the Bruins on the board with a power play goal during their five-on-three.
Boston's Charlie Coyle was also fined $5,000 by the NHL Department of Player Safety for cross-checking Tyler Bertuzzi five minutes into the second period.
The two players got tangled in front of the net with the Bruins' forward giving Bertuzzi multiple cross-checks, both to the back and to the face.
Coyle was given two penalties on the play; one for high-sticking and another for cross-checking. Mitch Marner was able to get the Maple Leafs on the board during the power play.
Later in the second period, Bertuzzi would get tangled up with Jakub Lauko before joining another scrum and dropping the gloves with Bruins' defenseman Parker Wotherspoon.
The Maple Leafs kept up with Boston's physicality, often getting involved in post-whistle scrums. However, they couldn't follow up the Bruins' offense with their own, falling 4-1 at TD Garden.
