Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Easton Cowan hasn't missed a beat since rejoining the OHL's London Knights.
The 19-year-old returned to the Knights in early October and continued his historic point streak, now at 44 games. The forward scored three goals and had an assist with the Knights in their trio of games this weekend.
Cowan had the third goal in London's 4-1 win over the Saginaw Spirit on Saturday evening. He also tallied an assist and an empty net goal on Sunday against the Sarnia Sting.
Toronto's 2023 first-round pick (28th overall) has 10 points in his first eight games of the season. The Maple Leafs sent Cowan back to the Knights on Oct. 7 after he struggled to stand out during the team's training camp.
Cowan's 44-game point streak is the second-longest in the last 20 years, behind Alexander Radulov, who had a 50-game point streak with the Quebec Remparts during the 2005-06 season.
Cowan passed Sidney Crosby (37 games in 2004-05) and Connor Bedard (35 games in 2022-23), who were second and third in the rankings.
The longest point streak in OHL history belongs to former Maple Leafs forward and captain Doug Gilmour, who had points in 55 consecutive games with the Cornwall Royals in the 1982-83 season.
Cowan has 161 points (61 goals, 100 assists) in 137 OHL regular season games. The forward has also scored 19 goals and 38 assists for 57 points in 43 playoff games with the Knights.
He's also represented Team Canada at the 2023 World Juniors, where he one goal and one assist in five games. The forward will likely return to the squad this year — when the tournament gets underway in Ottawa, Ontario — and play a larger role within the team.
The Maple Leafs signed Cowan to a three-year, entry-level contract with an annual average value of $904,667 on Aug. 11, 2023, two months after Toronto took him in the first round of the NHL Draft.
The 5-foot-11 forward has yet to play a game at the NHL level.
