Ty Voit's injury troubles continue in what's supposed to be his first professional season.

The 20-year-old forward was making his AHL debut with the Toronto Marlies on Wednesday against the Providence Bruins, but had to leave just six minutes into the game after he went into the boards awkwardly.

The Marlies confirmed before the end of the first period that Voit wouldn't return to the game against Providence.

Marlies head coach John Gruden said after the game that Voit suffered an upper-body injury and would “hopefully” have more on Thursday after the 20-year-old gets re-evaluated.

Voit began his first professional season late due to a shoulder injury he suffered during the Traverse City Prospects Tournament in mid-September. He made his pro debut in the ECHL with the Newfoundland Growlers on Dec. 1 and has been on a tear since.

The 20-year-old had two goals and six assists in five games with the Growlers before receiving the call to the AHL.

Voit was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the fifth round (153rd overall) of the 2021 NHL Draft. In his final year with the Sarnia Sting, Voit scored 24 goals and 81 assists in just 67 games, good enough for second in OHL scoring.
