Maple Leafs Prospect Tyler Hopkins Invited To Team Canada's World Junior Summer Showcase

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Tyler Hopkins has been invited to Team Canada's 2026 World Junior Championship Summer Showcase in Windsor.

The CHL has announced 31 players to Team Canada's roster for the 2026 World Junior Championship Summer Showcase, and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Tyler Hopkins made the list.

Hopkins is among big-name invitees including Caleb Malhotra, Daxon Rudolph, Carson Carels and Keaton Verhoeff, three players who were drafted in the top 10 of the 2026 NHL draft. In other words, Hopkins has earned the opportunity to play alongside plenty of young stars, which is a testament to his development.

The Campbellville, Ont.-born center has represented Team Canada on a couple of occasions at the U-18 level in the past. In 2024-25, he suited up for the Canadians at the U-18 World Championship, recording an assist in six appearances. He also featured in the Hlinka Gretzky Cup that same year, providing an assist in five contests.

Moving off of that campaign, Hopkins' development grew following the Maple Leafs selecting him 86th overall in the 2025 NHL draft.

After spending two straight seasons with the Kingston Frontenacs, Hopkins was traded to the Guelph Storm in the middle of this past year. Therefore, he split his time between Kingston and Guelph, playing 29 and 27 regular-season games for each club, respectively.

It's also worth mentioning that Hopkins wore an 'A' as an alternate captain at one point for both teams.

As for the summer showcase that he'll be attending, that event will begin on July 26 and continue through Aug. 1 in Windsor, Ont. Canada will have practices on July 26 and 27, before facing Sweden on July 29, Finland on July 30, and USA on Aug. 1.
