The Jets are undefeated through eight games while Toronto is on a three-game losing streak.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have their toughest challenge yet with the Winnipeg Jets on Monday night.

Toronto will enter Winnipeg's Canada Life Centre in hopes of stealing two points against the NHL's hottest team and ending their eight-game undefeated run to begin the season.

The Jets opened their season with a 6-0 win against the Edmonton Oilers and haven't looked back since, outscoring their opposition 36-16. Toronto is coming off a third-straight loss in Boston on Saturday, where they fell 3-2 in overtime.

The team didn't have any on-ice activities on Sunday.

"Well, a lot of travel. Long travel today and overtime game, a hard-fought game. Some guys had a lot of minutes," Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Sunday in Boston.

"I think the rest will do us good, and we'll get on the ice in the morning and have a little skate before we play."

Toronto has nine points in their first nine games, and their power play, which has gone 3-for-30 to start the season, is the fourth-worst in the NHL. The Maple Leafs did have a goal late in the third period to tie the game, which technically was on the man advantage.

The power play is still struggling, but Toronto is getting their chances.

"Yes, the power play could be cleaner at times and do things better, and we've got to keep working through that. But even the power play has created opportunities," Berube said.

"On that 5-in-3 last night, we got two empty nets, and we don't put them in the net. I mean, we've missed a lot of empty nets."

William Nylander has struggled as of late, registering points in just one of his last five games. Berube said on Sunday that frustration is beginning to creep into Nylander's game and that the coach is trying to help him through it.

"Just trying to help him out and show him things he can do better," Berube said about what he's done with the forward. "I think there's not much chemistry with his line right now."

The Toronto head coach also discussed Toronto's goaltending and whether Anthony Stolarz has earned more starts with his strong play to begin the season. The 30-year-old has three wins and a .927 save percentage through his first six games.

"Well, he's earned [the starts]. He's played extremely well. But, you know, we always have conversations and talk about these things, and it's rest and things like that, too, that go into it."

Pontus Holmberg was a healthy scratch on Saturday against the Bruins. It's unknown if he'll remain in that position against the Jets on Monday evening. This was the lineup against Boston:
