More good news appears to be coming for Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner and his family.
On Sunday, Jake McCabe’s wife, Gaby, revealed on her Instagram story that she was attending a baby shower for Marner’s wife, Stephanie. The photo hinted at the exciting news, as Gaby shared an image of a cookie decorated with blue icing alongside a card that read:
Oh Boy!
Welcome Baby Marner
Love your Lady Leafs
Makeup artist Estelle Phillips also posted a three-photo carousel on Instagram on Sunday, showcasing Stephanie’s look for the special day with the caption, “baby shower glam for our girl.”
While Marner has yet to comment publicly on the news, it appears he and Stephanie are preparing to welcome their first child — a baby boy.
The 27-year-old will soon join teammates Morgan Rielly and Simon Benoit in the new dad club, as both became first-time fathers over the summer.
The news comes just days after Marner had the game-winning assist for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament in the final at TD Garden in Boston. Marner is currently playing out the final year of a six-year, $65.41 million contract.
This season, the forward leads all players on the Maple Leafs in assists (55) and points (71). He has carried his end of the bargain, playing a crucial role on offense in the wake of a plethora of injuries to the club throughout the first 56 games.
We at The Hockey News would like to extend our best wishes to the Marner family in this exciting new chapter of their lives.
