The Marlies captain has been with Toronto since signing a three-year deal with the club in July 2022.

Logan Shaw will be a Toronto Marlie for the next two years following this season.

The 32-year-old forward re-signed with AHL Toronto on Friday afternoon. His two-year AHL contract extension is set to begin after this season and run until the end of the 2026-27 season.

Shaw joined the Marlies in July 2022 after he signed a three-year deal with the club. Since then, the forward has played 160 with Toronto, scoring 54 goals and 90 assists in that span.

He has three goals and 14 assists for 17 points in 23 games with the club this season and continues to be one of the team's most productive players.

After re-signing with Toronto, Shaw was named to Team Canada's Spengler Cup roster. The forward is one of 26 players selected to represent Canada at the tournament, which begins on Boxing Day in Davos, Switzerland.

The Glace Bay, Nova Scotia native was named the 10th captain of the Marlies just over two years ago on Dec. 7, 2022. Former Marlies captain Rich Clune, now an assistant coach with the Anaheim Ducks, passed the captaincy along to Shaw in what was his first season with Toronto.

"Naming the captain of the Toronto Marlies is as pivotal of a decision as we will make this season and we’re incredibly proud to have Logan serve in this role," said Marlies GM Ryan Hardy in a statement in Dec. 2022.

"We’ve selected an individual whose impact on our lineup and in our dressing room this season has been immediate. Logan has in a short time garnered the respect and admiration of his teammates and our staff for his strong character, professionalism and work ethic."

Shaw has set a career-high in goals with 30 during the 2023-24 season. The forward also had career highs in assists with 48 and points with 69 in 2022-23. He was an AHL All-Star in 2023 and was named winner of the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award, an honor for the player who best exemplifies the qualities of sportsmanship, determination, and dedication to hockey.

Originally drafted in the third round (76th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Shaw has played 232 NHL games, split between the Panthers, Ducks, Winnipeg Jets, Montreal Canadiens, and Ottawa Senators. He had 16 goals and 23 assists in that span.

He's appeared in 472 AHL games — with the Marlies, Belleville Senators, Manitoba Moose, San Diego Gulls, Springfield Thunderbirds, Portland Pirates, and San Antonio Rampage — and has scored 305 points (137 goals, 168 assists).
