CM Punk lost his tag match at AEW Collision on Saturday but had a special Toronto Maple Leafs-related message for the fans when the show went off the air.

The wrestlers of All Elite Wrestling are at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto this weekend for a pair of televised events, including the ‘Forbidden Door’ pay-per-view show which takes place on Sunday.

On Saturday, CM Punk made his wrestling return to Toronto as part of the AEW Collision taping. The eight-man tag match saw Punk team up with FTR and Ricky Starks against Jay White, Juice Robinson and The Gunns to end the show.

Although Punk’s team ended up losing the match, he had an uplifting speech to the crowd as the show went off the air, even if it came at the expense of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

“As a team captain I take full responsibility for the loss,” he said as the crowd booed him. “And I want you all to know. Even though I lose sometimes, I’m going to keep on coming back and fighting, just like your Toronto Maple Leafs!”

While on the surface it looks like an uplifting match, Punk was playing to a mixed Toronto crowd who was booing him heavily. Punk, who is from Chicago, is an avid Blackhawks fans and is no stranger to trolling the crowd for his advantage.

In a feud last year with Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), Punk wore a John Tavares New York Islanders jersey at UBS Arena in front of MJF’s home crowd.
