As teams maneuver to make some salary cap space, another former Maple Leafs draft pick moves on.

A former Toronto Maple Leafs’ draft pick is on the move.

Sean Durzi has been traded from Los Angeles Kings to the Arizona Cotoyes in exchange for the Canadiens' second-round draft pick in 2024.

The defenseman was selected in the second round (52nd overall) by the Maple Leafs in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He attended Leafs development camp that summer and that was the last time he wore a Leafs jersey. On Jan. 28, 2018, Durzi was traded to the Los Angeles Kings along with forward prospect Carl Grunstrom and a first-round in exchange for veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin.

Durzi went on to find success with the Kings. He scored his very first NHL goal against the team that drafted him in November of 2021.

Last season, Durzi drew a five-minute major and ejection when former Leafs forward Pierre Engvall hit him in the head with his stick.

Although the penalty was warranted, fans at Scotiabank Arena weren't particularly happy with the way Durzi fell to the ice and they let him know every time he touched the puck.

The 24-year-old Durzi has one year remaining on his contract that carries a $1.7 million contract, according to Puckpedia.com. He will be a restricted free agent with arbitration rights when his contract expires at the end of the 2023-24 season.

Durzi had nine goals and 29 assists in 72 games last season.
