Despite a down year in his final season with the Maple Leafs, Kerfoot will make the same money per year in his new home in Arizona.
Alex Kerfoot is heading west.
The former Toronto Maple Leafs forward is signing a two-year, $7 million deal according to PHNXSports.com's Craig Morgan.
The 28-year-old forward had 10 goals and 22 assists in 82 games with the Maple Leafs last season. A popular player in the locker room, Kerfoot's versatility was his biggest strength during four seasons in Toronto. He scored two goals in 11 games during the Leafs' 2023 Stanley Cup playoff run.
Coming off a four-year deal worth $3.5 million per season, Kerfoot managed to avoid any sort of pay decrease and it comes from an Arizona team that has shown a desire to spend in recent days.
The Coyotes signed forward Jason Zucker to a one-year, $5.3 million deal earlier in the day. And they also acquired defenseman Sean Durzi in a trade with the Arizona Coyotes in June.
There were reports that the Leafs were trying to circle back to Kerfoot's camp but it's clear he chose to move on.
Kerfoot will immediately improve the Coyotes' depth.
