The Toronto Maple Leafs have finally made a big splash in the free-agent market.
According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Maple Leafs are signing defenseman John Klingberg.
The 6-foot-3 defenseman is coming off a one-year deal worth $7 million deal that he signed with the Anaheim Ducks, with the hopes of turning his season into a bigger contract. He was traded to the Minnesota Wild later in the season and had a goal and three assists in four playoff games.
According to DailyFaceoff.com's Frank Seravalli, Klingberg is signing another one-year deal with Toronto.
The Leafs later confirmed the one-year deal is worth $4.15 million.
Klingberg is an offensive defenseman who can help Toronto's power play and joined a loaded defense that includes Morgan Rielly, TJ Brodie and Jake McCabe.
The 30-year-old Swede had 10 goals and 23 assists in 67 games last season.
