A big trade deadline acquisition by the Maple Leafs last season, O'Reilly's deal is worth $18 million.

Shane Doan becomes an assistant to Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving as the club shores up its deep ties to Arizona. Will that be enough to extend Auston Matthews?

Ryan O'Reilly is heading to Nashville.

The veteran forward has agreed to a four-year deal worth $18 million according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

In February, the Maple Leafs acquired O’Reilly along with Noel Acciari from the St. Louis Blues in a three-team trade that also included the Minnesota Wild. In exchange for O’Reilly and Acciari, the Blues received forwards Mikhail Abramov and Adam Gaudette, a 2023 first-round pick, a 2023 third-round pick (Ottawa’s), and a 2024 second-round pick.

Toronto only carried 25 percent of O'Reilly's cap hit following the three-team trade.

There was strong interest from the Maple Leafs to try and keep O'Reilly. According to TSN hockey insider Darren Dreger, O'Reilly decided for a change of scenery and that term and money wasn't the issue.

The Predators also reportedly inked former Leafs defenseman Luke Schenn to a three-year deal worth $8.25 million.

O'Reilly was limited to just 13 games in the regular season for the Leafs when he suffered a broken finger in a game against the Vancouver Canucks. He had four goals and seven assists in that span and had three goals and six assists in 11 playoff games for Toronto.
