The rookie forward re-injured his knee on Mar. 21 in a game against the New York Islanders.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed rookie forward Bobby McMann on long-term injured reserve.
Mcmann was called up by the club last month and played in two games. Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said McMann injured his knee in a game against the New York Islanders, aggravating a previous injury he sustained while with the Marlies.
In 10 games with the Leafs this season, the Wainwright, Alberta native recorded one assist.
Salary cap space cleared
Because McMann's injury occurred while up with the Maple Leafs, the club clears $762,500 in salary cap space. The club needs to move some money around as they try to get Ryan O'Reilly into some regular-season games. O'Reilly's cap hit with the Leafs is $1,875,000.
O’Reilly took part in the team’s morning skate on Tuesday, but will not return to action just yet.
"They're going to hold him out today," Keefe said of the medical staff's decision. "He's going to have a follow up, another picture of the finger and that will set the course for the rest of the week.
