The 38-year-old is an unrestricted free agent after spending the last two seasons with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Maple Leafs could be on the lookout for a third-string goaltender.
According to a report from The New York Post's Larry Brooks, the Maple Leafs could land veteran goaltender and unrestricted free agent Brian Elliott.

"Jaro Halak, Brian Elliott, Martin Jones and Thomas Greiss are out there seeking jobs as backups," Brooks reports, "with Elliott perhaps on his way to Toronto."
The 38-year-old netminder has been with the Tampa Bay Lightning for the last two seasons, making $900,000 each year. Elliott had a 12-8-2 record with a .891 save percentage in 22 games last season as the Lightning's backup goaltender.
Toronto currently has both Joseph Woll and Matt Murray locked up for next season. Ilya Samsonov, who's an RFA, was qualified by the Maple Leafs but elected to file for arbitration. His salary arbitration hearing is scheduled for July 21, but he and Toronto could agree to a deal before that.
Once the case is settled between the Maple Leafs and Samsonov, a second buyout window will open for Toronto. It's possible that once the window opens, the Maple Leafs buyout goaltender Matt Murray, who has one year remaining at $4.6875 million.
According to PuckPedia.com, Toronto's current cap hit sits at $91,556,450, which is $8 million over the salary cap ceiling of $83.5 million. Teams can only go 10% over the cap ceiling in the offseason and the Maple Leafs are nearly at their limit.

What happens with Samsonov will be imperative to the Maple Leafs' plans for the rest of the summer.
