Pittsburgh Penguins President of Hockey Operations and GM Kyle Dubas has taken another piece of the Maple Leafs' front office.
The Penguins announced on Thursday that they've hired Jon Elkin as the team's Director of Goaltending.
Elkin joined the Maple Leafs organization in August 2018 as the Marlies' goaltending consultant. In the summer of 2021, following the hiring of Dusty Imoo, Elkin was promoted to the role of Goaltender Evaluation and Development.
During 2013-14, Elkin was a part of the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds organization which was headed by Dubas. He's also worked in the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes organization as a goaltending coach.
Elkin is the second person to leave the Maple Leafs and join Pittsburgh following Dubas' departure from the organization. Former Assistant to the GM Jason Spezza left Toronto earlier this summer to join Dubas as an Assistant GM of the Penguins.
Also of note, Cam Charron, who was also a part of the Maple Leafs organization until the end of the 2021-22 season, was also hired by Dubas in Pittsburgh.
