The 28-year-old will reportedly join Toronto, following in the footsteps of his father, Tie Domi, who played for the Maple Leafs from 1994-2006.
It looks like the Maple Leafs are nearing a deal with Max Domi.
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, the Maple Leafs and Max Domi have agreed on a one-year deal in the $3 million range.
The 28-year-old reportedly joins the Maple Leafs after splitting last season with the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars. Domi, a Winnipeg, Manitoba native, helped push the Stars to the Western Conference finals last season, scoring three goals and 10 assists in 19 games.
According to PuckPedia.com, Domi's deal is $3 million in salary and it also includes a 10-team no-trade list.
Domi has split time at both left-wing and centre throughout his career, mainly providing value within a team's top six. As to where he'll fit in with the Maple Leafs, that's yet to be seen.
This will be the second time the 28-year-old has played in Canada. Domi spent two seasons with the Montreal Canadiens from 2018 to 2020. He's also played for the Arizona Coyotes, Columbus Blue Jackets, Chicago Blackhawks, and the Stars.
Domi has appeared in 581 NHL games, scoring 121 goals and adding 249 assists in that span.
