The longtime SM-liiga player has passed away at the age of 49.
There was some unfortunate news that came out of Finland on Friday morning.
"Sad news: Timo "Hire" Hirvonen has died," the tweet reads. "In honor of Timo's memory, Turku Palloseura takes part in the grief of the relatives."
Roni attended Maple Leafs development camp earlier this summer and was eager to return to Finland to go fishing, something his father taught him to do.
At this time, there has been no cause of death reported. We wish Roni and his family condolences during this difficult time.
