The Toronto Maple Leafs held their final practice of their regular season opener. Fraser Minten and Noah Gregor earn spots in the opening-night lineup. Ryan Tverberg has hit a bump in the road after a strong start with the Toronto Marlies. The AHL rookie was hit awkwardly into the boards during Tuesday night's game against the Charlotte Checkers. In the video below, you can see Tverberg not using his left leg as he struggles to get to the bench. The 21-year-old needed help from the Marlies' training staff to get to the dressing room. Tverberg didn't return to the game on Tuesday and wasn't at practice two days later. "He went in for an appointment with the doctor, he's got a second look," Marlies head coach John Gruden said on Thursday. "I haven't gotten any results back, but again, he's waiting to hear (more)." When asked about the nature of the injury, Gruden said, "Lower body." Before Marlies practice, The Athletic's Joshua Kloke reported [https://x.com/joshuakloke/status/1717515146384261473?s=20] that Tverberg "might miss a month or so with injury." If that's the case, it's a tough blow for the 21-year-old as he was beginning to find some early footing in the AHL. For most of his games thus far, Tverberg was on Toronto's second line alongside Logan Shaw and Nick Abruzzese. He scored four points — one being his first professional goal in five games this season. It's another injury for the Marlies. They also have Roni Hirvonen (who watched practice on Thursday) and Bobby McMann (who skated at practice on Thursday as an extra) working their way through injuries.
