Martin Jones is now in the mix as the Maple Leafs add to their goaltending depth. Along with signing players this summer, the Maple Leafs reportedly looked at also trading forward William Nylander. The insider also shared the latest involving the Maple Leafs and Nylander. "I do believe, that he (Nylander) and his circle, are along the lines of, 'If no one else is going to take a hair cut, I'm not going to take a hair cut,'" Friedman reported. "I think they looked at trading him. I don't think they liked what was out there. I mean, he did score 40 goals last year. He's a really talented guy, and in the playoffs, he was involved in a couple of their really successful moments against Tampa Bay. I think they know that and recognize that. "[Toronto] didn't like what was out there and we'll see." Nylander has been eligible for an extension since July 1, but both parties reportedly haven't been close on money.
