The Utah Mammoth were one of the NHL's most active teams this summer. After acquiring J.J. Peterka before the draft, they signed Brandon Tanev, Nick Schmidt, and Vitek Vanecek, adding quality depth pieces to the roster. The question now is whether they have locked in their opening night lineup or if there are still more moves coming.

Given how much they have already done, it is easy to think they might be finished. Still, it is not out of the question. With a deep prospect pool and valuable assets, they have the pieces to go after another high-end talent. That said, it feels like this is the group they will start the season with.

With that in mind, here is a quick look at how the opening night roster could shape up. As we get closer to the start of the 2025-26 season, I will be putting together a more detailed breakdown.

    Forwards:

    F1: Clayton Keller - Logan Cooley - J.J. Peterka

F2: Nick Schmaltz - Barrett Hayton - Dylan Guenther

F3: Lawson Crouse - Jack McBain - Brandon Tanev

    F4: Michael Carcone/Liam O'Brien - Kevin Stenlund - Alex Kerfoot

    Defense:

D1: Mikhail Sergachev - Sean Durzi

D2: Olli Maatta - John Marino

D3: Nate Schmidt - Ian Cole

    Goalies:

    Starter: Karel Vejmelka

    Backup: Vitek Vanecek

At the moment, there are no signs the Mammoth are actively working on another move. But it is summer, and things can change quickly. It would not be a surprise if more chatter picks up as opening night gets closer.
