According to sources close to the WHL and Tij Iginla, the word around the campfire is that he will be ready for the start of training camp with the Utah Mammoth.
The source mentioned that Iginla is skating with the Kelowna Rockets and that he will be ready for the start of training camp. While he doesn't believe that they will make the team out of training camp, they do have the sense that Iginla will get a good look before returning to Kelowna for the 2025-25 WHL season.
Iginla, who was the sixth overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft by the Mammoth and unfortunately, had to undergo double hip surgery during last season. Now, he is working his way back and will be healthy enough to participate in training camp for the Mammoth and if all goes well potentially play a few games in the regular season before being sent back to the Rockets.
In 21 games with the Rockets before getting injured, he had 14 goals and 18 assists for 32 points. The season prior, he had 47 goals and 37 assists for 84 points in 67 games, as well as 15 points in 11 playoff games.
