Controversial Call Stalls Utah Mammoth Momentum in 4-2 Loss to Ottawa Senators
Desperate for a win after losing four of its last five games, Utah Mammoth found itself down 2-3 against the Ottawa Senators entering the third period thanks to a last minute goal from Nick Schmaltz.
Desperate for a win after losing four of its last five games, Utah Mammoth found itself down 2-3 against the Ottawa Senators entering the third period thanks to a last minute goal from Nick Schmaltz.
Though the previous period hadn't been pretty, Utah was coming in with momentum and facing the struggling Senators goalie Leevi Meriläinen, who was entering the game allowing a league worse 4.57 goals per game. There was still plenty of time left for the Mammoth to make a play.
And with an early face-off win in Ottawa's defensive zone, Utah looked like it had just done that, after Jack McBain remarkably scored a goal all while sitting down on the ice with his back facing the net.
Can Utah Mammoth Endure This Losing Stretch?
Any team could have lost on the road to a team as good as the Montreal Canadiens. After all, this team is one of the hottest and most exciting in the league right now, despite being one of the youngest.

Cole Caufield is leading the NHL in goals, now totaling 12. Ivan Demidov is having an impressive rookie campaign, and the whole team is speeding past opponents and scoring at will.
The Canadiens are playing some great hockey right now. But when the Utah Mammoth came into Montreal, a 6-2 loss was still an unexpected outcome.

Clayton Keller's Overtime Goal Gives Utah Mammoth Hard Fought 2-1 Win Over Sabres
The storyline was set in stone for the Utah Mammoth’s first game against the Buffalo Sabres. Either JJ Peterka would be scoring goals against his old team, or Buffalo’s Josh Doan and Michael Kesselring would each have revenge games against their former teammates.
