According to Utah Hockey Club President of Hockey Operations Chris Armstrong, the team is in the “home stretch” of finalizing a new name.

Armstrong spoke during yesterday’s end-of-season exit interviews and confirmed that a name “will be announced in the coming months.”

There’s been plenty of speculation about what the new name could be. As reported earlier this week, there have been some trademark issues with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which reportedly rejected several of the potential names.

If a new name is on the way, here were some of the final options from the fan vote:

    • Yeti
    • Yeti’s
    • Blizzard
    • Mammoth
    • Outlaws
    • Venom

Armstrong’s comments suggest the team may be moving away from “Hockey Club” or “HC,” though there have also been reports that those are still on the table.

He also mentioned that Utah has begun renovations to the Delta Center but didn’t provide a timeline for when they’ll be completed.
