Well Mammoth fans, it's going to take a while before Utah roster will be fully healthy.

Alexander Kerfoot is officially going to be out longer than originally expected as Utah GM Bill Armstrong revealed earlier in the day.

Originally said to just be a lower-body injury, Armstrong revealed that Kerfoot had an injury specifically related to a core muscle. It isn't clear if this injury was related to the previously stated lower-body injury.

Having Kerfoot undergo a successful procedure is an important step toward getting him back on the ice, but it certainly will take longer than originally expected.

Still, at least Utah now has a solidified timeline of when Kerfoot will return to the ice and can plan around it appropriately.

As of now, Utah has been playing great even with injuries to Kerfoot and defenseman Sean Durzi being on injured reserve. The Mammoth has won a franchise-record five games in a row and is currently second in the standings of a very competitive Central Division.

With Kerfoot months out from returning, Utah will need to continue to rely on Michael Carcone to fill in on the third line. So far, Carcone has played pretty well with Lawson Crouse and Jack McBain, registering an assist and a goal in six games played.
