Mammoth's Alex Kerfoot Sidelined With Lower-Body Injury cover image

The Utah Mammoth announced that forward Alex Kerfoot will be sidelined week-to-week with a lower-body injury to start training camp.

Kerfoot, 31, isn’t known for missing games. He has only missed one game over the last four seasons. But as players get older, their durability can take a bit of a hit, and that can lead to missing time. Thankfully, preseason games don’t count, so the hope is that he will be ready for the start of the regular season.

Last season with the Mammoth, Kerfoot scored 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 81 games. Over his eight-year career, he has played 605 games with the Colorado Avalanche, Toronto Maple Leafs and Arizona Coyotes before suiting up with the Mammoth. His career high in points came in 2021-22 with the Maple Leafs when he had 51 points in 82 games.

Kerfoot has locked down a bottom-six role with the Mammoth, and that’s where he’ll slot back in when he’s healthy. The Mammoth spent the offseason adding talent to try and push for a playoff spot this season. Kerfoot will be a big part of that push because of how he plays the game, so it’s important that he returns to the lineup fully healthy.
