For the first time in franchise history, the Abbotsford Canucks are off to the Division Final, after a 2-0 Game 4 victory over the Coachella Valley Firebirds. Max Sasson scored the winner on the power play, while Linus Karlsson secured the win with an empty-net goal. As for Artūrs Šilovs, he was unbeatable, stopping all 29 shots he faced.

The story of the game was Šilovs, who recorded his second shutout of the 2025 Calder Cup Playoffs. As mentioned, the Latvian goaltender made 29 saves, including 11 in the third period. Overall, Šilovs looked comfortable in the net, and was able to come up with some massive saves which kept the Canucks lead intact.

While Šilovs was fantastic in the net, Abbotsford's skaters deserve a lot of credit for the way they played defensively. The majority of the Firebirds' shots came from distance, with only seven coming from in tight. The Canucks also did a great job of blocking shots, as well as clearing lose pucks in order to prevent high-danger chances.

Abbotsford's special teams also played a key role in this game. The Canucks went one for two on the power play, while killing off all three times they were shorthanded. Ultimately, Abbotsford's penalty kill is a massive reason why they are off to the Division Final, as they are a perfect 20 for 20 this post-season.

Thanks to their victory, the Canucks now move on and will play the Colorado Eagles. The Division Final will be a best-of-three, with Abbotsford hosting the first two games. Puck drop for Game 1 is scheduled for Friday, May 16 at 7:00 pm PT from the Abbotsford Centre.
