Less than a week after sending him down to Abbotsford, the Vancouver Canucks have recalled defenceman Victor Mancini and sent defenceman Tom Willander back down. Mancini played in one game with Abbotsford before being recalled.
Due to league regulations, Mancini has to play at least one game with Abbotsford before being recalled again by Vancouver, hence his quick return after skating in only one match. During the game, the defenceman registered two shots on net and took a hooking penalty.
Prior to being sent down, Mancini played in four games for Vancouver. His last game was against the Washington Capitals on Sunday, in which he fought Capitals forward Brandon Duhaime. Willander joined the roster in Mancini’s stead but did not play a game in his time with Vancouver.
Mancini’s return will be helpful for this tired Vancouver team that is coming off a five-game road trip taken within the span of a week. They embark on the first game of a back-to-back this weekend tonight against the Montréal Canadiens before facing the Edmonton Oilers the day after. Puck drop for tonight is scheduled for 4:00 pm PT.
