Former Canucks captain Bo Horvat and Team Canada will play Quinn Hughes, J.T. Miller, and Team USA for gold on Sunday. Kevin Lankinen and Finland will play Slovakia for bronze tomorrow.

Canada and USA are heading to the gold medal game at the 2026 Winter Olympics. This means Vancouver Canucks goaltender Kevin Lankinen and Finland will compete for bronze tomorrow against Slovakia. After, three former Canucks will battle it out for gold on Sunday morning.

Canada 3, Finland 2

35 seconds — that’s how much time was left when Nathan MacKinnon scored what would ultimately be the game-winning goal for Team Canada on the power play. This goal erased a two-goal deficit that Canada had fallen into, elevating them to the gold-medal game on Sunday. Despite Finland seizing the early lead, it was Canada that appeared most offensively-dominant throughout with 39 shots to their opponent’s 17.

Lankinen still has yet to play during the tournament, though this game wasn’t completely devoid of Canucks representation. Former Canucks captain Bo Horvat waas part of Canada’s winning effort today, though with all of his team’s line shuffling, he only ended up playing a total of 10 minutes.

USA 6, Slovakia 2

In a game that was not nearly as close as the one before it, Team USA defeated Slovakia by a score of 6–2 to advance to the gold-medal game on Sunday morning. Despite spirited efforts throughout the preliminary round and elimination games, Slovakia will now play Finland for bronze tomorrow. This game did not end without some of the USA’s trademark toughness, as Erik Cernak and both Brady and Matthew Tkachuk took 10-minute unsportsmanlike conducts within the final two minutes of the game.

Once again, former Canucks captain Quinn Hughes was a big factor in today’s game for the U.S., as the defenceman assisted on his team’s second goal of the game and logged another team-high TOI of 21:23. Fellow former Canuck J.T. Miller also saw an increase in ice time, playing for 14:41 minutes and adding a shot on goal.
