    With Rick Tocchet departing the organization, the Vancouver Canucks are in need of a new head coach. Over the next few weeks, there will be plenty of rumours surrounding the Canucks vacancy, as Vancouver looks four their fourth coach in the last four years. According to President of Hockey Operations, Jim Rutherford, the organization will be putting together a list of candidates in the near future, which will include some familar names to Canucks fans.

    For fans who want to take their best guess on who will be Vancouver's next head coach, PlayNow.com has already released betting odds. According to PlayNow, all bets must be made before May 9, 2025, at 4:00 pm or before news breaks about a potential signing. Here is a look at some of the favourites for landing the job, according to PlayNow.

    The two coaches with the best odds are Jay Woodcroft and Manny Malhotra. Woodcroft was recently with the Edmonton Oilers, while Malhotra is currently coaching the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. Both are listed at 3.00.

    The next tier is Derek Lalonde and Gerard Gallant. Lalonde was the head coach of the Detroit Red Wings this season before being let go in December, while Gallant last coached in 2022-23 with the New York Rangers. Lalonde and Gallant are both listed at 4.50.

    Rounding out the top five is Peter Laviolette, whom the Rangers fired on April 19. Laviolette and Rutherford have worked together, as they won a Stanley Cup together with the Carolina Hurricanes in 2006. Laviolette is currently listed at 5.00.

    Lastly, there are former Canucks coaches who appear on the list. Alain Vigneault's odds are at 35.00, while John Tortorella is listed at 50.00. There are also a few former players listed in Henrik or Daniel Sedin (50.00) and Kevin Bieksa (50.00).
