Kevin Lankinen is officially an NHL record holder. With his win Sunday, the Vancouver Canucks goaltender became the first goalie in NHL history to win their first ten road games to start a season. Before Lankinen went on this undefeated run, the record was held by Cam Talbot and Glenn Hall, who each recorded nine straight road wins.

Lankinen's record-setting performance came in a 27-save overtime victory over the Detroit Red Wings. With the win, Lankinen improves to 12-3-2, with both of his shutouts coming on the road. Vancouver's win against Detroit also featured a franchise record-breaking moment, as Quinn Hughes became the Canucks all-time leader in assists by a defenceman, surpassing Alex Edler.

Now with ten straight road victories, Lankinen will have the chance to tie the NHL record for longest road winning streak during a season. The record is currently held by San Jose Sharks' Evgeni Nabokov and Minnesota Wilds' Devan Dubnyk. With one more game to be played on Vancouver's current six-game road trip, Lankinen could have a chance at tying the NHL record on Tuesday in Minnesota.
