Vancouver Canucks Quinn Hughes is the highest-ranked left-shot defenceman in NHL 25.
Ahead of its release on Oct 4, EA Sports is revealing some of the top players' ratings for NHL 25. After releasing the top goaltenders, which featured Thatcher Demko ranked fourth, EA Sports released their list of top defensemen, which featured Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes as the second-highest-ranked defender. Hughes' 94 rating falls only behind Cale Makar's 95 and will be the tenth-highest rating when the game is released in October.
Unsurprisingly, most of Hughes' offensive attributes have a rating of 90 or higher. According to his playing card, his best attribute is agility, which received a 97 rating, followed by deking, passing and puck control at 96. Hughes also has multiple abilities, including "Elite Edges," which increases a player's ability to turn tight corners while retaining high speeds.

After winning the Norris Trophy, Hughes also received rating bumps in his defensive attributes. Some of his notable defensive ratings include defensive awareness and stick-checking, which are 92 overall, and shot blocking, which is 86. Hughes also received an 82 in body checking, which could increase if he lays more hits like the one below.
This year's edition of the game is also special for Hughes, as the cover features him alongside his two brothers, Jack and Luke. According to EA Sports, it is the first time three brothers have been featured on the front of one of their games, and it could be the last, as three brothers becoming stars in the same league is highly improbable. Based on his rating, it is clear that EA Sports foresees Hughes having another historic season, which should feature yet another nomination for the Norris Trophy.
