Canucks Karlsson Ties AHL Franchise Points Record

Linus Karlsson has tied the Abbotsford Canucks franchise record for all-time points.

THN's The Wrap Around Show- Should The NHL Have Games On Christmas?

Linus Karlsson kicked off 2025 in style as he tied Sheldon Dries for the most points in Abbotsford Canucks history. Karlsson recorded his 118th point on New Year's Day as part of a two-assist effort in Abbotsford's 4-2 loss to the Calgary Wranglers. Karlsson has spent his entire 141-game AHL career with the Canucks organization, scoring 53 goals and adding 65 assists over the last three seasons.

Unless Karlsson gets injured or called up, he should become the franchise's all-time goals leader this season. He is currently 12 goals behind Dries, who finished his Abbotsford career with 65. Dries is currently playing for the Grand Rapids Griffins after signing a two-year contract with the Detroit Red Wings during the offseason.

As for all-time assists, Karlsson will need to battle a few current teammates if he wants to top that list at the end of the year. Christian Wolanin is currently the all-time leader with 79, while Arshdeep Bains (74) and John Stevens (68) sit second and third. With a strong second half of the season, Karlsson could hit the 80-assist mark, which would also inch him closer to becoming the first player in franchise history to record 150 career points.

Up next for the AHL Canucks is a back-to-back on Friday and Saturday against the Laval Rocket. The Montréal Canadiens affiliate is 18-10-1-1 this season and boasts some impressive prospects, including Joshua Roy, Owen Beck and Adam Engström. Both games will be played in Laval at 4:00 pm PT.
