Before starting his NHL career, the Vancouver Canucks defenceman played 191 games for the Kelowna Rockets.
Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers will be hitting the ice in Kelowna this weekend as part of the 2024 Kelowna Hockey Fest Pro Game. The event will take place on August 23 at 6:00 pm and will be played at Prospera Place in Kelowna. Tickets are still available, and fans can get into the event for under $30. The game will also include a 50/50 raffle and game-worn jersey auction in support of the YMCA of Southern Interior of BC, with donations going directly toward supporting local, low-income children and at-risk youth with free or subsidized membership and access to the Y's Child and Youth Development programs.
Myers isn't the only NHLer set to play in the game. He will be joined by former Canucks Ethan Bear and Curtis Lazar, as well as Damon Severson, Brenden Dillion, Brayden Schenn and Jaden Schwartz. The game will also feature some well-known coaches, such as Seattle Kraken's assistant coach, Jessica Campbell, Shea Weber, Brent Seabrook, and Josh Gorges.
Before making the jump to the NHL, Myers spent three and a half seasons with the Kelowna Rockets. During his time with the organization, he led Kelowna to a Memorial Cup in 2009, the same year he was named WHL Playoffs MVP. Myers also won two Gold Medals with Canada while playing for the Rockets, winning at both the U18 and U20 levels.
