Vancouver Canucks defenseman Tom Willander and Marcus Pettersson will have the opportunity to represent Team Sweden at the 2025 Betano Hockey Games. The four-team tournament is used as a warm-up for the World Championships, and features Sweden, Finland, Czechia and Switzerland. Sweden will kick off their event on May 1, with their final game being scheduled for May 4.

While this is not Sweden's official roster for the 2025 IIHF World Championship, it is a good indicator of who will be on the team when the tournament opens on May 9. This year's Swedish squad is loaded with NHL talent, including NHLers like Rasmus Andersson, William Eklund, Lucas Raymond and Mika Zibanejad. Not only will this be a good opportunity for players to audition for spots on the 2026 Winter Olympics team, but it will also provide everyone on the squad the opportunity to compete for Gold in their home country, as the tournament will take place in Sweden and Denmark.

This will be Pettersson's fourth opportunity to play for Sweden at the World Championship. The last time he represented his country was last year, when he took home a Bronze Medal. Over his career, Pettersson has played 22 games for Sweden at the World Championship, recording three goals and three assists.

As for Willander, this tournament will be the first time he will represent Sweden at the Men's Worlds. The 2023 first-round pick was on the 2025 World Junior team and has already played for Sweden over 50 times at the junior level. If he makes the final roster, Willander would be one of Sweden's youngest players, as he will be 20 years old for the entire tournament.
