Canucks forward Braeden Cootes has scored his first-career AHL goal against the Calgary Wranglers.
Vancouver Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes has scored his first-career goal in the AHL as a member of the Abbotsford Canucks against the Calgary Wranglers. The goal was scored at the 16:16 mark of the third-period en route to a 4-2 win for the Wranglers in the second-half of a back-to-back.
Cootes scored his first AHL goal in his second official AHL game. During his AHL debut on October 2, he was placed on a line with Ben Berard and Bennett Schimek, with the trio remaining together when Cootes' goal was scored.
After being drafted 15th-overall by the Canucks in 2025, Cootes made Vancouver's 2025-26 opening-night roster out of training camp but returned to the WHL for his final season, registering 24 goals and 39 assists in 45 games with both the Seattle Thunderbirds and Prince Albert Raiders. He posted 23 points in 20 playoff games with the Raiders.
During the 2026-27 pre-season, Cootes skated on Vancouver's top-line in two games, centring their fourth-line in one, scoring a goal and two assists in that span of time. Before the Canucks' final pre-season game, he was re-assigned to Abbotsford.
