A Vancouver Canucks prospect could soon be on the move in the OHL. In an article written by Peter Robinson of BarrieToday.org, Riley Patterson has requested a trade from the Barrie Colts. The Canucks 2024 fourth-round pick has spent his entire career with Barrie, recording 121 points in 132 games.

In his article, Robinson spoke with Barrie GM Marty Williamson, who said, "He wants a fresh start (No hard feelings), I still really like Riley." According to the article, the 19-year-old will not be in attendance for Colts Training Camp and will wait at home until the solution is resolved.

Patterson had a decent 2024-25 campaign, recording 59 points in 64 games. As for the playoffs, he scored six times and recorded 12 points in 16 games. Patterson, who is currently still unsigned, did attend Canucks Development Camp this year and is scheduled to participate in both the two-game prospects showcase against the Seattle Kraken and Vancouver's Training Camp this coming September.
